FamilyWellness Program

A Balanced Life Rx provides nutrition and fitness workshops to children ages 6-12 and a parent.  The program is led by Registered Dietitian Nutritionist and personal trainer Jennifer Littau. The program is designed to provide evidence-based nutrition and fitness education to improve your child's overall health.  Each workshop will include recipes, wellness packets, hands-on cooking, and engaging activities that the whole family will love and enjoy! 

Nutrition & Fitness Workshops

Power Up with Breakfast &
Morning Movement
Class description:  Participants will learn and understand the important health benefits of both eating breakfast and morning physical activity.  Participants will engage in a 5-minute morning movement routine lead by RDN as well as a food activity in which they will have the opportunity to create and taste a healthy & balanced breakfast parfait. 

Family Fitness Fun

Class description:  Participants will learn and understand the important health benefits of daily movement.  Participants will be led by dietitian and engage in some fitness family fun activities that can be easily recreated at home.  Fitness is supposed to be fun and enjoyable which can then be sustainable over a lifetime.

Picky Eaters: Creative Ways to Incorporate Veggies

Class description:  Participants will learn and understand the important health benefits of vegetable and fruit consumption for growth & development.  Participants will also learn creative ways on how to implement vegetables into their diet especially for those picky eaters.  Participants will have the opportunity to cut, build, & taste a balanced smoothie incorporating some new foods and flavors.  

Free Giveaway:  Each child will receive a smoothie cup.

Smart Snacking 101

Class description:  Participants will learn and understand the benefits of smart snacking.  Participants will learn a few snack strategies that can keep the fun while boosting up the nutrition.  Participants will learn some smart swap ideas for snack time.  For example, instead of potato chips and dip participants will smart swap for whole wheat pita and hummus.

Fitness & Food: Putting it all Together

Class description:  Participants will learn and understand the health benefits of balancing both physical activity and proper nutrition.  Participants will learn that regular movement is just as important to a healthy lifestyle as smart eating.  Participants will be led by the dietitian and engage in some physical activity followed by a balanced meal full of plant-based goodness that will be rich in vitamins, minerals, and fiber!

What's the scoop on sugar?

Class description:  Participants will learn and understand the health risks of added sugars in both beverages and packaged foods.  Participants will learn creative and healthier alternatives to use in replace of these unhealthy food sources. Parents can focus on teaching children the difference between added sugar as opposed to natural sugars that come in whole foods, which also offer vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals that keep us healthy.  Participants will have the chance to make their very own no-bake granola bars and some watermelon lemonade to go with it!
